Upon further inspection, I was blown away to see that it was CE #2!!! The car resides in Manassas, VA now. COMMENTS: I purchased this car in 2003 in Syracuse, NY after totaling my previous CE. I just car this car back from the body shop after a hit-and-run accident. She has a new left quarterpanel. It has been re-painted and now is not stock with painted bumpers, trim panels and license plate panel. It has been painted with a PPG paint mixture to approximate the graphite metallic that is stock on the 1994 CE convertible, but with a silver instead of gold strip. As for differences in mechanics, here's the list 16' super aero wheels from a '95 9000 Aero shod with Bridgestone RE750's (I may buy Nokians this winter). I always thought the stock wheels were ugly K&N cold-air filter Bosch 30lb. injectors Swedish Dynamics freewheel* Swedish Dynamics Red-series turbo* Swedish Dynamics BOV* Installed during my 5-speed rebuild in 2005 Replaced the tan top with black in 2005 Bilstien HD springs with SD urethane bushing kit in 2008 Blaupunkt 6-disc indash head unit with a 300 watt Rockford Fosgate amp.

COMMENTS: The car had a total loss claim title issued. I have looked the car over, has all vin stickers on doors hood trunk and on quarter panels. Found rear panel on trunk has been replaced as vin inside trunk had been stamped out. Accident in right rear has not been fixed. Car is in bad shape and will need a total restore. Drove car home, car runs good and drives good, trans popping out of 3 gears. Someone let the pinion bearing go too long. Interior is a loss cause, will need a whole new interior. Body in good shape except for bottom of trunk. I will update once the car is completed—back to its former glory.

COMMENTS: I have owned this car since new. I bought it on 19 March 1994 at Spreen's of Passaic, New Jersey for registration in New York ( I still have original sticker and invoice and all service invoices )and original New York plates which I switched for personalised ones. I remember coming all the way out from NYC in taxi to test drive car on snowy day in February 1994. The sales agent told me she was suspicious that I was going to steal the car because I had travelled so far by taxi to see it and also had ' funny accent ' ( Brit! ). Had seen one at Zumbach in NYC but they were not interested too much in negotiation. It was also registered in Connecticut from 2002-2004 and in Florida from 2004. Most of the miles came from driving from NYC to Vermont for skiing or to Long Island in summers. Otherwise mileage would be even lower. I could just never part with this car ( and never will ), through all the moves and the Mercedes and other family cars that followed, even when I moved to UK. Now, it is time to restore this car. Mechanically sound and otherwise in great condition, there are some cosmetic things which will make it look much like new ( top and front seat covers ) and I am going ahead with this now with emphasis on getting as close to OEM as possible and have found a place that says it can do it. So off we go!

UPDATE 11/2013: I had the work done, which mainly consisted of a re-spray with OEM paint and OEM new tan top and a fresh rear bumper ( minor dings and scratches on one taken off but I wanted it to look brand new ). The work was all done by The Saab Store in Tampa. They were fantastic and I recommend them. Mike and his team there are real enthusiasts. Now several years later, the car still looks brand new and gets admiring glances. It was always stored with an OEM car cover in my garage at my house in Oldsmar, FL but now that I have moved back to US from UK, it is re-registered in North Carolina, a climate well suited to top down driving for nearly all of the year, and in daily use. Current mileage is 58,600.

COMMENTS: Purchased in August 2021 from the wife of the late Bob DiNapoli, who ran a Saab shop called European Auto Werks in Leominster, MA. The car was rear ended in 1998 while being driven by its original owner and was subsequently totaled by the insurance company. Bob bought the car in 2000 from a salvage yard and rebuilt it. This was Bob’s personal car, driven on weekends in the summer, always garaged and always stored for the winter. The car is in excellent shape, no structural damage from the 1998 accident and not a spot of rust on it. Mechanically very strong and drives beautifully, it just needs a bit of love on some very minor cosmetic issues like the drivers seat and door panel upholstery.

In Sweden, it has got a new convertible top, new paint on the trunk, a new dashboard, a new windshield, new headlamps, new tyres and a full maintenance service. Now, it is waiting for new leather upholstery. It runs smoothly and is very nice to drive. The new owner is a Swedish collector of classic Swedish cars.

COMMENTS: It was originally delivered to the Bill Dodge SAAB, Brunswick, Maine. It had been in Keene, NH most of its life and I believe one owner,though titled twice since it went from a "company car" to the owner's personal car who then traded it in on a new SAAB at Tracy Banks SAAB in Concord, NH. It had 92837 miles on it when I purchased it August 2001 at Banks, and was showing some rust at the bottoms of the doors, etc. Banks put a new tan top on it when I bought it, and I enjoyed it "as was" until August 2005 when it sustained front end sheet metal damage in an accident. Major body restoration including new doors, front fenders, headlamps, hood, grill, and a total very professional repaint in the correct color done at that time. It looks perfect!! Interior is original and showing limited signs of use, and a few small cracks in the dash. 2016 saw some major mechanical work done. It is currently a "summer only" car.

COMMENTS: Tight and Fast! One of 500 produced for this the last year of this body style. It is a rare car and an awesome ride and it is ready for summer driving. I'm the second owner I purchased it in 2005 for my wife (she had to have this body style). The plan was to go through it. A 67 RS Camaro convertible got in the way and now with kids in college, it's over. It has been serviced strictly by a SAAB only Service Center. Mechanically, this car is in great shape! Always an extra car so very little winter driving. It really needs new paint, badges and some interior work as well as roof to be brought up to the "mint" condition that it should be. COMMENTS:I got this beauty off of ebay a couple of years ago and drove it from Rhode Island to Texas with the top down most of the way! Since then I've pulled it out of the garage every couple of weeks to enjoy it. I'm the fourth owner. It's in good condition (interior's really nice). The only modification I know of is the stereo (I have an original stereo but I like the Sony Xplod that's in the console). Also, for some reason, the fog lights were taken off (I've got brackets ... still need foglamps). My wife is making me sell it (new baby, new priorities ... maybe I'll buy it back in twenty-plus years when he's through college!). It sure has been a treat driving the last of the finest.

COMMENTS: I flew from Georgia to Chicago, paid the seller and drove the car 700 miles back home. The odometer rolled over 80,000 miles on the trip. The seller purchased the car in 1994 and kept it until I bought it. She had what appears to be almost every service record—regular periodic oil changes, even though it was driven very few miles. Installation of a new radio (I prefer the "original Clarion‰ style but it looks perfect in the wood dash and has hands free phone capability), and other maintenance work done. It is a little rougher than I expected—small rust area on the rear corner and the top has a 4 inch tear below the rear window—so I am replacing the top, will have the body work done and a complete respray. The interior is immaculate, requiring little to return it to factory new.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Kathleen Gallo, Chicago, IL, 11/2018, 79,172 mi.) I am the second owner of this Saab 900 commemorative convertible. I purchased it used from a Saab dealer in Wilmington Delaware when the car was a year old. I fell in love with the vehicle and have cared for it ever since. It has 79,172 original miles and has always been garage housed. It has never been in an accident and is all original, except for the convertible top and radio. COMMENTS: I bought this car in 2003 with 57,000 miles from the original owner who moved to Tahoe from Connecticut. It's all original, and very dependable. There are some nicks in the paint, and it needs a new top. It came with the original tan boot/cover for the top, and so now have two of these if anybody wants one? I had to replace the fuse (under the back seat) for the heated seats, a motor mount, and the clutch slave cylinder thing. The heater cold/hot dial has issues sometimes, maybe caused by the stereo wires of my Alpine CD player. The transmission is fine, except that I have to hold it in reverse if backing uphill. Something fried after working the car (with tire chains on) out of some deep snow. Bummer! Mine has the red box under the hood on the driver's side firewall. Burl dash, leather seats with dark border, and the original rims. So that's my SAAB story.

My Saab specialist mechanic (Atomic Motors in Portland, OR) has gone over the car fixing other small things and now it is sorted and ready to be driven and enjoyed. Power/heated seats, top, windows, locks, A/C and HVAC all work well. SPG panels on sides look really sharp and are in very good condition. Radio, cruise control, and rear defroster do not work. I bought the car last fall thinking I’d keep it for life, but an unexpected opportunity came up and now need to make room in the driveway! SOLD.

We purchased 'INGA' from Park Ave Lotus late June 2012 and had her transported down here to Texas. UPDATE: Seen for sale on ebay. From the listing: Since purchasing her, I have put less than 10K miles on her! 100% of the maintenance was performed by the Saab specialists at French’s Foreign Car in Irving, Texas.

We did have one bit of trouble with a water hose busting on the way home from Houston in November 2012. We spent nearly $7000 repairing the subsequent engine damage, which included top end engine damage. Just to be safe, French’s advised we rebuild the engine, but we had a donor engine from a parts car we had previously purchased (my first Saab). The donor car was a 1988 Turbo Convertible with less than 60k miles (but with terminal underbody rust - which is why it was a donor car). Anyway, we spent almost $7k getting everything back ship-shape. NOTE: We kept the CE APC, distributor, and fuel regulator and put them on the '88 engine. Car runs perfectly and the only issues we’ve had this past year were a blown convertible top fuse, and a distributor oil leak (both were fixed).

1 scratch on driver's side by the back wheel well. Scratch was there when we purchased. Also driver's side seat has a hole which was there when purchased and we have not repaired and it has not gotten any bigger. Seat recline mechanism is broken and have not replaced. Seats move forward and back just fine, just move out of kilter when you try to recline back beyond a normal driving position. We do not know if the top is original or has been replaced. The top is in ‘good’ condition, but does have some wear marks on it. Absolutely no tears or leakage. NO DASH CRACKS – a true testament to how well she has been taken care of. For sale 05/05/14. COMMENTS: I bought the car from Swedish Motor Cars, Church Falls, Virginia. She was shipped to Le Havre harbour, and I drove her home to southwestern France. After fixing some mandatory modifications (front lights, turning lights etc.), I finally succeeded to go through the customs formalities. The front hood was repainted, and the top changed. The engine is running perfectly, and now the car is looking almost as a new one, after some work on the front seats. This black beauty is rare in Europe, and is experiencing a good second life on the French Atlantic Coast close to Biarritz.

COMMENTS: I purchased this car in May 2003 from its third owner. All of the work on my CE has been performed by Håkan Wiberg of Swedish Pro-Tech in Hermosa Beach. It is running as close to new as one could expect from a car with its mileage. The transmission was replaced in 2006 with a special-order unit rebuilt by Eriksson Industries of Old Saybrook, CT. The turbocharger was replaced in March 2009 and the new (rebuilt) TE05 has given the car lots of newfound pep. It has a 'reconstructed' title, due, as I understand it, to the fact that it was siezed under a towing lien, and then sold at auction, which is where I bought it. It is in good shape, a little body work, but nothing major that would constitute a reconstructed title, but there it is. I just drove it back from Reno and it didn't burn any oil or give me any trouble. Wrong color top is on it, new seat reupolstery is nice, but didn't keep to orginal black-tan scheme. The bumpers and side trim were painted to match the body, and have no chrome accent strips.

I have had to replace the hydraulic line to the clutch, the ignition rotor, review mirror, one of the seatbelts. The heat seaters don't work (not a necessary item in Houston), nor does the cruise, but I plan to try and repair them soon. The top needs replacing, but the Houston Sun will do that to a top. I have tried to keep it as cherry as possible. PREVIOUS COMMENT: We purchased the car in January, 2012. We are the third owners. The first owner lived in Northern California. The second owner, who lives in Orinda, California, purchased it when it was three or four years old from Burlingame (California) Saab, and the car was used as a daily driver in California by the second owner. We heard about the car from old friends of ours who also live in Orinda and know the previous owners. This is the third classic 900 convertible that we now own--I guess we are collectors. Following our purchase of the car, it was trucked to its new home in Salt Lake City. It arrived here in style, in the middle of a snowstorm, which appears to have been its first encounter with snow. The car is in very good condition and runs nearly perfectly. There is no rust. The exterior paint is only dulled on the hood. The seams on the leather of the front seats are split and will need to be resewn. I believe the top has been replaced (still tan) but otherwise there are no modifications.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Ron Olson, Indianapolis, IN, 7/2015, 94,000 mi.) Car is originally from Florida and ended up somehow in Minnesota. I bought it through Andrews Inc. of Princeton, MN and brought it to Indianapolis. The car is in excellent shape with no rust at all. Has a newer interior and top although it is black. Car should be around for years to come.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Chris Houdek, Andover, MN, 5/2012, 72,000 mi.) Was looking for classic Saab 900 when I stumble upon this at the local Saab specialist. Body is in perfect condition (no rust, great condition paint) and the engine and accessories run great. I will be picking up where the previous owner left off on the road to restoration. I will be restoring original sound system, cleaning up the headlights, and getting the cruise and washer pump working. Good thing I still have my Saab manual from previous Saabs! I love driving this with the top up or down!

Bought by a Saab enthusiast in Gouldsboro, PA who always kept the car covered in his garage. Current owners have moved the car to the beautiful mountains of NC outside of Asheville. It will continue to be garaged with a hyper blue 2006 Mini Cooper S and a turquoise and antique white 2009 Harley Road King Classic to keep it company. The Saab has usurped the garage space of our 2003 LS 230 Lexus. Our Saab is the 'newest' of our vehicles as both the Mini and the Lexus have well over 100,000 miles. The car, cosmetically and mechanically, is like new.

COMMENTS: Originally came with a full dealer-added Airflow kit but was involved in a minor accident in the late 90's that damaged the front bumper, lights and hood and put some scratches on the front of the doors. I assume the original Airflow bumper was too expensive so a standard one was installed along with a used hood and new lights. Apart from some scratches on the doors there is no sign of accident damage now. It was however issued with a rebuilt title following the accident repair. I've added a lot of other "go-fast" parts over the years including a lightened flywheel, performance clutch, Bilstien shocks (those don't make you faster per-se, but she corners like a boss on her Bridgestone RE750 tires), an all stainless header-back Simmons exhaust, 30 lb. fuel injectors, and a K&N cold air intake. Top goes up and down just fine, you might see a few drops from the headliner only if you get caught in an intense storm for several hours. AC blows cold and heater core was replaced in June 2017. For a 24 year old car that was a daily driver, she's in mechanically great shape. Body has some surface rust bubbling up around some of the wheel wells and has a hood that needs to be realigned. The car also comes with a bevy of spare parts and accessories, including s factory ski rack, custom wool seat covers, a convertible top tonneau cover and a factory, and a convertible-spec SPG kit that I purchased years ago and never got around to installing. COMMENTS: I purchased this car in June 2018, and am the third owner. This car was purchased and has spent its entire life in Massachusetts, with approximately 146,000 miles so far, mostly in the summer. It wears SPG three-spoke wheels currently, as the original CE wheels are bent and damaged, but I plan to repair them. Also, the top was replaced at some point, and a previous owner changed the original tan to a black canvas top. The original leather shift knob has also been replaced by a wooden knob, but the drivetrain is all-original. Working to restore "Saabylla" piece by piece to original condition.

COMMENTS: This car, originally from Texas, had a tree fall on it with only 90 miles on the odometer. It was totaled and sat in some salvage yard in Texas for few years. It was rebuilt with salvaged SAAB parts and later sold at salvage auction. in 1988 it was registered in Oklahoma. In 2000 it was registered in Indiana. In 2001 it was registered in Pennsylvania. I bought it in 2004 with 40K on the odometer. The only parts on the car that were original was the engine and tranny, the front end, the passenger door and the interior. Whoever put this car back together did an incredible job. A former owner put many performance parts on the car and installed SPG ground effects. I began a ground-off restoration in 2005. I got about 75% done with the project when I found an immaculate CE with only 60K miles (#363). I gave up on the project. Since it is not a matching-numbers car, I plan to salvage what I can then lop the back off of it and make a matching trailer to tow behind my good CE.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Sam Prouty, Lakeville, CT, 5/2012, 42,400 mi.) This car is almost perfect; it simply must be one of the lowest-mileage, most original classic 900s left. The exterior is a 9.5 out of ten, with gorgeous paint that shines, and barely any dings or scratches. There are a couple of minor blemishes which I will show you in additional photos, and the top has a few wear spots. The interior is a 9.7 out of 10; the leather is soft and supple, with only a bit of sun fade on the driver's side bolster. No dash cracks, no rips or tears, everything works. The driving experience is a 10 of 10; the car tracks straight, has great power, brakes strongly. The tires are almost new, the clutch and transmission work great, all systems function perfectly. It is a true joy to drive and to behold. I bought this car a year ago, after having searched for a long time to find one in such great shape. I purchased it from a classic 900 collector who truly babied it, and who hardly ever drove it. I had intended to keep the car forever, but an unexpected move to Boston (where storage issues and road/traffic quality make me question owning it there) forces me to sell. I myself have owned many Saabs over 20 years, mostly classic 900s, and will insist that this car go to someone who knows and appreciates the vehicle. COMMENTS: Just bought #258 from someone who left it outdoors for the last 10 years. Needs complete restoration, top, paint, interior. Ignition doesn't turn due to rust from rain water. Need to learn how to replace it along with fixing other issues as they come up. Trunk doesn't open but the lever works. Red box was replaced with what looks like after market high performance box. I was told it needs clutch slave cylinder. Front seats were replaced so they're missing the grey pipping and color is off. Dash is cracked, also walnut dash has a few cracks but is intact. The body is in decent shape with no rust except for two small dollar size areas where the doors latch to the body. Rear driver wheel well trim is missing due to car being hit in that area but fender is not damaged. It salvaged due to this minor hit although the prior owner never went thru the DMV process of replacing title so the title I have is Clear. It hasn't registered in 10 years and will drop off DMV records in a year. Not sure what will happen after that.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT: (David Willoughby, 2/2008, 165,400 miles, Yuba City, CA) I bought this car after seeing it in a dilapidated state sitting on the side of the road in Marin (north of San Francisco). The car ran and the A/C worked and the top went down, the only requirements I made. After purchasing it I found out it was a CE. I cleaned the moss of the roof and the mold from the carpet and fixed the radio and a few little things and have put almost 40,000 miles on it in the year and a half I've had it. I never expected such a fast and fun ride and have enjoyed it more than cars I had that were much more expensive. This CE started life in Michigan, moved to Kansas and came to Marin in 2000. I found it and saved it from sure death in May of 2006. The car is still all original including the top and is faster than ever, I expect someone modified the APC as it builds a lot of boost. I would be interested in purchasing a lower mileage car if anyone has one available at a reasonable price.

COMMENTS: I rescued the car in November 2000 out of a barn in horse country near the New York / Connecticut border with 142,000 miles. It had been leased and then owned by a doctor who had it serviced religiously (so it was in great mechanical condition) but didn't maintain the body or interior very well - dented fender; bumper corner pushed in; rust near wheel wells and leading edge of the hood; worn leather on the front seats and shifter boot; missing trim pieces; fog lights and front spoiler smashed into a gravel ditch; original top was very worn, leaking and dry-rotting, plus one of the hydraulic cylinders was leaking. The last trip the Dr. took her into the dealership most of the fuel system was replaced (injectors, fuel pump, pressure regulator, etc.) because it was 'running rough' - and when it was still 'running rough' the Dr. decided on a new 2001 9-3 Convertible and parked the CE in one of the barns. I cleaned out the throttle body and she's been running fine ever since, with only an occasional high-idle.

UPDATE-2016: I parted her out due to rust, a blown head gasket, and a noisy, popping out of gear transmission. I sent the remains to a scrap yard with around 250,000 miles - in 2011 I think. The front seats lived a few more years in my son's 1988 Convertible (and may still be in it - he sold it two years ago) and the top went onto my daughter's 1992 convertible which has since been totaled in an accident. I had saved many parts, but seriously doubt I'll ever own a classic 900 again so am selling off stuff. Unfortunately her original owner let the rust go too far to make it worthwhile to restore her - but she was still fun to drive right to the very end.

All of the paintwork appears to be original with some fading on the hood. We see no evidence of any body work or repaint. It drives very well with no squeaks or rattles. The engine is very strong, it shifts beautifully and the clutch is great. This car is in as close to showroom condition as any fourteen year old car with almost 100K miles can be. It has obviously been pampered and garaged. Must be seen to be believed.

COMMENTS: I was very lucky to buy this beauty in Spring '09 from its loving owner based in Boston. She was the car's second owner, having purchased it from Village SAAB in Acton, MA in June '95. She maintained the car beautifully with help from a Master Tech who works at that shop. I think her care is best illustrated by the fact that the original clutch is still in excellent shape after 170k miles! Since buying the car, I have repaired some minor body issues such as a torn rear bumper cover and dented wheel well, but otherwise no work was necessary. Also, the previous owner had dogs that scratched the rear seat over the years, but I was thrilled to find an exact replacement (with the dark gray piping!) from a junked CE. Future plans include replacing the SPG wheels with Super Aero's (previous owner did not have the CE asymmetricals for some reason), and I would also like to shorten the clutch throw. This baby is a dream to own, and I hope to drive it for at least another 170k miles!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Frances Lee Montgomery, Cambridge, MA 9/2009, 168,500 mi.) I bought this car from Village SAAB in Acton, MA in June, 1995. I am the second owner. The car has been kept in meticulous condition by my mechanic who loves old SAABs and specializes in SAABs. I have all the maintenance records from the time I bought it. The car has only one or two very minor scratches and dings. I replaced the ragtop a few years ago and also replaced the stereo system with a rebuilt original. It runs wonderfully and I drive it all the time. For the past several years, I have garaged the car in the winter. I kept it covered for most of the years I have owned it. It is a VERY fun car to drive!

From the listing: EBay informed me I was misrepresenting the vehicle and was told relist under salvage title which I’m doing. Based on knowledge & history of vehicle—I purchased both AutoCheck & CARFAX reports. I found history on reports conflicting in May & June of 1994 when car was new, rest of report similar. First two history entries on both reports list car with 84 miles AutoCheck shows “junk vehicle” twice while CARFAX shows “titled/registered as personal vehicle” & “title issued/updated first owner reported”. In addition CARFAX guarantees its title history report—including junk & salvage. None of this was questioned since I have the car and a clear title in hand. I welcome any inspection & will send these reports on request...

With that said, up for bid & your consideration this low mileage well maintained example of Saab’s last run of the Classic Convertible. A beautiful 1994 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible Commemorative Edition #354 of 500 is in overall excellent condition. Priced at the top of the range and well deserved considering no accidents, no issues, no rust, with clear title… 100% complete. Runs, drives, and shifts flawless. Interior: Original black-piped seats are excellent. Original dash with wood fascia few cracks. Convertible top and head liner cosmetically nice works perfect with tonneau /parade cover. Alpine system, all switches, controls, gauges intact working proper. Exterior: New base coat clear coat Nova Black paint on hood and rear deck body dent and ding free. Bumpers and extensions matched to factory code. All glass, moldings, and lenses in place and excellent. CE rims are excellent with near new Bridgestone tires. Easy to tell by condition car has been garage stored most of its life and will only appreciate in value at this point. It’s not only a head turner & pleasure to drive I wouldn’t hesitate to drive anywhere.For sale 6/18/14. Sold.

Met and made a deal with the original owner. He told me of the mods he had done; big turbo (red) larger injectors, ECU, cams, Bilstiens, springs from 93 CE, new top. It started with a jump, drove it to my work place. Did the big clean up, polish, resprayed the deck lid. Renewed some parts, starter, (Bosch), battery, exhaust, down pipe, muffler, tail pipe. The previous owner installed a black top. I have a tan German canvass top that I will put back on the car when the black one wears out. I have done some cusomizing to the car. As expected the manual gears shift, Turbo performs, original remote/alarm key, and tan canvas, and electricals works although there's minor wear as with some dashboard cracks now that it's 25 years old. Still have original Upgraded audio to pioneer radio/cd with Bluetooth & USB input plus speakers, yet still have original clarion cassette/equalizer system. Minor optional issues: may need new paint job, and brake cables, cruise control, A/C repair which I opted out since it's sparingly driven only during the summer in tandem with my sedans for winters. Everything else is OEM including aero wheel set as far as i know. I'm considering changing out tire set, add original fog lamps. I have Saab booklet and all records of service repairs since my ownership.

No issues in any gears or popping out of any gears. Clutch is strong. Front end is tight. Steering column has no play. The body has a rust bubble over passenger fender. The top is fairly new and the back window as well. Top works and goes up and down. All the power windows work. It has a Pioneer aftermarket CD/Stereo. The factory power antenna works. The paint looks fair and the bumper covers are fading. The factory CE wheels look crummy as well. This is a good driver not a show piece. We have priced it that way.

COMMENTS: I purchased this special SAAB in 1997 and am the second owner. It has resided and been continuously garaged in North Carolina. The machine is pristine and completely original. No modifications have been performed nor are needed. I recently drove it over 1000 miles to and from the SCNA convention in Parsippany, NJ. This is the longest continuous drive it has been on and never even burped. All maintenance has been performed by Townsend Imports, here in Greensboro, North Carolina by Mr. Tom Townsend, a nationally known master Saab mechanic. I have owned 5 Saab automobiles, this one being the fourth in line. My first was 1985 5 door turbo purchased in Spain, then a 1992 900 S., then the 1994 CE conv., then a 2001 9-5. I have enjoyed all of these, but the CE is the greatest.

COMMENTS: Not sure of how many owners it had prior to us. We had a 1988 900S 4DR and needed another commuter vehicle. We bought it from a young lady in San Fransisco at least 12 years ago. We had to do the customary transmission replacement, I kept the core since it is 1 year only, about 20K miles ago. I replaced the fog lamps with Cibie 35's and added Cibie 45's in front of the grill. I can now see VERY far down thew road. Plus, I replaced the 55/11W halogens last week with HID lamps. I am an active amateur radio operator so the car sports a few extra antennas. We just replaced the top but the rear deck lid needs a respray.

COMMENTS:#392 is slowly being restored to original condition (new top, interior, etc.) in Houston, Texas. It was purchased (2007) from a recent college grad in Oklahoma City (the past owner - who must had many of great times in/with the car). The prior owner purchased the SAAB from the American Cancer Association as an donated car (2003) and spent four years as a college car at University of Missouri - Rolla. Today, it has a more peaceful life in the driveway or garage -only driven on the better days in Houston, Texas. Once, restored it will have a new home in Hot Springs, AR and driven in the Ozarks Mountains.

I shipped the car (in poor mechanical condition) to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii where it has been partially resurected! The second owner had it for only a few months where it sat outside and was only driven a few hundred miles. COMMENTS: I purchased this car as a replacement for my '94 900T non-CE cabrolet, #1553, that was totalled in a rear-end collision in Aug. 2011. I first became aware of the CEs because the service manager at Mile High Saab in Denver had one. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, but they were few and far between and I was happy with my #1553, whom I had christianed 'Vülkurie'. While negotiating with the insurance company for a replacement for Vülkurie, I happened to find a couple CE's for price comparison, (which the insurance company rejected because of status as CE). Meanwhile I found a 1988 900T Cabrolet in need of saving, in which I could infuse parts from the totalled car. I had seen CE #426 at Atomic Auto and it seemed nobody was doing anything with it. It didn't seem for sale, and it also seemed in want of some TLC, so I didn't pursue it at first. While popping in from time to time for service on the '88, I'd spot the CE and ask casually about it, assuming it would be priced outside of my price range.

We moved to the Bay Area and she was garaged until 2017, though mostly un-driven 2013-2016. I learned to drive on this car and it was my daily for two years. COMMENTS: We bought this car new for my wife from a SAAB dealer in Des Moines IA, in October 1993. It was our first big purchase together after getting married that August. She drove it to Iowa State University for a couple of years and it had very regular use during the next 4 years as we continued to live in Des Moines during a very happy time on transfer from the UK. In 1997, our first son was born and so that he could know his grandparents, we reluctantly decided to leave the US and return to England. The car was part of the family, so we paid $1500 to ship it back to the UK with us. A few months later we picked it up from the dock in Southampton. It has been with us ever since. In its life it has had a new clutch, and a cylinder head gasket. Apart from that, it has never had a problem. It is totally original, with a couple of minor dents...the worst one received when my wife backed into it in our driveway a few years back. We are just at the point where it needs a little TLC, although it still drives like new. Update: This car got a complete restoration and had a RHD conversion done by Paradise Club Classic Saabs in the UK (2010).

COMMENTS: I purchased this Saab from the original owner here in Santa Cruz, Calif. He bought it from a Saab dealer in Palo Alto California upon returning from a business trip in Japan in 1994. He drove it sparingly and it spent most of the time in his garage in the Santa Cruz mountains. I would say this was a great "barn find" as it sat for a few years in non-op status. When I bought it I paid all the fees to get it up to date and drive it daily. It has the original dealer window sticker and sales sheet. I wanted this car to drive and completely restore. When I met my wife, I was driving a 1987 Saab 900 Turbo and we have had a number of them over the years. Plans change and I am considering selling it. I was approached by a dealer in San Francisco who specializes in Saabs.. He made me an offer, but I think I could do better. It drives well, passed smog with great numbers, is registered for the next year and has only 98425 original miles, and counting. Recently I had a new clutch installed by Pacific Motorsin Monterey. This included bearings, rear seals, disc and pressure plate. The parts came directly from Sweden! Additionally it has a new battery and fluids. It also had a new clutch master and clutch slave cylinder installed.

There are a few items that need attention. Although the antenna motor runs, the mast is stuck. The drivers side seat back is stuck in the upright position. You can hear the motor working but the gears does not engage. It is very comfortable in the position it is, but repair is easy requiring a new plastic gear.. The top is solid, does not leak but is worn in a few places (see photo). The paint is good, but there are two small chips on the hood (see photo).

The special rims are in good shape but it does have some scrape marks in areas on the front wheels. The dash is perfect, all instrumentation works, great heater and air conditioner. Original Clarion sound system with equalizer. No rips or excessive wear to the leather seats.

The car had been off the road for about a year, ever since it had begun smoking heavily. We got the car running and drove it up onto my friend's roll-on. Back home, I tore down the engine and discovered that the head gasket was blown, the head had cracked and been welded (badly), and the turbocharger was shot. COMMENTS: I bought #470/500 this past summer from the previous owner, when it had 131,225 miles on the clock. I'm the third owner, and have since put 4,600 miles on it since I purchased it seven months ago. It's now my daily driver, my parter in crime on my 90 mile round trip commute! I've put new tires on it all around, as well as a new shifter, replacing the old floppy one. It needs a couple little things, but it hasn't put a foot wrong once, and I see no need to replace it with a new(er) car. I actually work for BMW, and I've turned down employee lease deals because I just don't want to part with my funky old Saab! I plan on taking it on a few ski weekends this winter, and down to Provincetown once summer rolls around... I'm sure the car will look equally at home wherever it's parked! I love my Saab, and will cherish it for as long as possible!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Liezl Irisari, Boston, MA, 11/2008, 132,000 mi.) I am the third owner of this beauty. Originally purchased in Chicago, it made its way to Massachusetts via Wyoming. Surprisingly, this car has no rust. There are no cracks in the dash. The paint still looks nice and glossy. The interior is in great condition with the original stereo, CD player, and equalizer. The engine has had a lot work done recently and drives like a dream. There are no leaks in the top, but it will probably need replacing next spring. I'm looking forward to many SAABulous years to come!

Update: It drives beautifully. It has little rust. We just replaced the engine mount, rear rotors, brakes, and calipers. Replaced parts in the past five years include clutch, alternator, slave cylinder, and ball joints. Battery replaced in the last few months. The original radio with CD player, power windows, heated seats work well. Car has original wheels with some scuffs. Original "Nova black‰ paint still glossy. There is a small dent in the back left rear panel. Roof has cosmetic defects, but only leaks in heavy rain. Convertible motor recently tuned up and works smoothly. Heat functions perfectly, but A/C needs to be charged. No cracks in dash. Records are available from 2005. Sold 6/6/11.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Drew Popson, Palm City, FL, 8/2014, 75,847 mi.) Very good condition. It's been my weekend beach cruiser for the last 2 years. Garage kept. Car drives and handles great—the whir of the Turbo is intoxicating, and urges you to accelerate so you can hear it as often as possible. I purchased the car just over 2 years ago, and have only put about 2k miles on it since. When I bought it I had the front brakes/rotors replaced, as well as the ignition (car now starts in neutral rather than having to start it in reverse gear). Stereo is an aftermarket Sony Xplod CD player with an Aux cable input to play your iPod or MP3 player—sounds great. Heated Driver's seat, power seats, power mirrors, power locks and power convertible top all work great. A/C, cruise control, washer spray, headlight wipers and rear defrost are not working but components are present. Does not have the original fog lights. The convertible top has some repairs to it, but does not leak. Dash is free of any cracks or damage. All glass is original and in great shape. Driver's side seat has some typical wear on the side bolster—other than that, the leather seats look amazing. Original alloy wheels have some pitting, dings and scratches typical of a 20 year old vehicle. The paint on the hood is faded slightly, as is the front emblem. Paint on the sides and trunk looks very good. There is rust on the driver's side door jam, in the usual place for these older saabs. The previous owner lived on the ocean, so there is surface rust on the trim pieces and on the chrome parts—like the seat belts. Overall, a great daily driver, weekend tourer or an easy project car to restore to its original condition. Incredible low, original miles! For sale 8/24/14. SOLD.

COMMENTS: I just purchased the car with a blown head gasket from a woman who could not pay the $2500 estimated by the local Saab dealer for repair. She listed it on craigslist and I purchased it for $200. It runs and otherwise seems in good mechanical condition with a nice, strait, original rust free body, excellent glass, wheels, trim, dash, top boot and original interior. The body has a small ding on the left rear quarter and a minor dent repair on the passenger door. The seat seams are coming apart but the leather may be salvageable. The interior was sprayed at some point and I'm cleaning that off. All around, it is in pretty good condition. It came with a new exhaust system, a good tan top, two almost new Michelins, a head set and new head bolts. 148K showing on the odometer and good service records with the car. The radio and AC don't work but just about everything else does. The car looks completely stock. The service records show the car came from California to Hawaii about six years ago. I'm thinking of sewing a new leather interior from some high-quality skins that I've located but they are slightly darker than the stock tan.

I'm a SAAB guy who's in the automotive repair industry and bought this car to erase the neglect it had endured during its 7 year "coma". I gave it: all new hoses, vac lines, water pump, ABS master,and all basic tune up items were replaced. New top installed. Brakes, Exhaust, tires, Super Aero rims. Body had professional paint correction.Car is about an 8-1/2 condition to someone who is very critical. Drives like a proper SAAB. Runs like new. Never thought I'd get one of these, but the price was right, and I wasn't afraid of the work it needed. Into the whole project for approx. $3500.00.There is a certain awe that this car inspires in me when I remind myself only nine more c900s were made... and that was the end of an era. COMMENTS: I bought this car in May 2012. I'm the second owner (after original NJ owner's donation of it to a charity which sold it through a wholesale auction lot in St. Louis). Everything works great. Nothing's been modified. It came with the original owner's Saab-issued portfolio including not only the owner's manual but the manual for the radio AND the original bill of sale and window sticker. I've been able find a few defects: (1) a broken left taillight lens, (2) a missing on/off knob on the radio, (3) missing the headlight wipers, and (4) hail damage on hood and trunk lid.

UPDATE: The engine runs great. And nearly everything is original—even the top. The car has a number of problems any prospective buyer deserves to know about. (1) The stick shift won't go into the far right position. So the car won't shift into fifth gear or reverse. (2) The entire exhaust system is disconnected. I still have it all (exhaust pipe, catalytic converter, muffler, tailpipe), but (a) it's in the trunk and (b) most of it is pretty rusted. (3) The canvas top has developed a mold problem. (4) The roof leaks a bit; I think it's primarily because the rubber stripping around the windshield has split and become somewhat dislodged. (5) The body off the car has developed some rust, a few areas here and there. (6) The undercarriage of the car—I'm told—is even more significantly rusted.
